Privacy Policy

Effective

Financial Valet (“we,” “us” or “our”) provides bookkeeping and outsourced accounting services to small businesses in the United States. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through yourfinancialvalet.com (the “Site”), how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

By using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.

1. Information we collect

We collect information you give us, information collected automatically when you use the Site, and in some cases information from other sources.

Information you give us

  • Contact details, such as your name, email address and phone number, when you send us a message, book a call or otherwise get in touch.
  • What you tell us, such as the content of your message and anything you share with us on a call.
  • Pricing answers: your industry, your yearly sales range and whether your bank accounts are online, when you use the price tool. We save these answers to understand demand and improve our pricing. We don’t ask for your name or contact details to show you a price.
  • Booking details: the call time you choose and any changes you make to it.
  • Payment information, if you buy a plan online. Payments are handled by our payment processor, and we don’t store full card numbers.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage information, such as your browser type, the page you were on when you sent a form, and the date and time.
  • Log information, such as your IP address and the pages you request, which our hosting providers record to keep the Site running and secure.
  • Cookies, as described in “Cookies and similar technologies” below.

Information from other sources

We may receive information about you from people who refer you to us and from public sources, such as your business’s website or online listings.

Client information

If you become a client, you’ll share financial records and other business information with us so we can provide our services. We keep that information confidential and handle it as described in your engagement agreement. If your engagement agreement and this policy differ, your engagement agreement controls.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your messages and questions;
  • schedule, confirm, change and hold the calls you book;
  • show you price estimates, prepare proposals and provide our services;
  • send you information about your account, our services and changes to our terms or policies;
  • send marketing emails where the law allows (you can unsubscribe at any time);
  • run, maintain, secure and improve the Site, including detecting spam, fraud and abuse;
  • understand how people use the Site and our pricing, using combined or de-identified information; and
  • comply with the law, enforce our terms and protect our rights and the rights of others.

3. Calls, texts and emails

If you give us your phone number, we’ll use it to contact you about your request or the call you booked. We won’t use it for automated marketing calls or texts unless you agree to receive them.

You can stop marketing emails at any time with the unsubscribe link in the email or by writing to us. We may still send you messages about your account or our services.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or for targeted advertising. We share information only as described below:

  • Service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting, database, email, scheduling, payment processing and the software we use to provide our services. They may use your information only to perform services for us.
  • Professional advisers, such as lawyers, accountants and insurers, when needed for their services to us.
  • People you ask us to share with, such as your tax preparer, lender or business partner.
  • Legal and safety reasons: when we believe the law, a subpoena or other legal process requires it, or it’s needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Financial Valet, our clients or others.
  • Business transfers: as part of a merger, a sale of the business or its assets, or a similar transaction, subject to this policy.

We may also share combined or de-identified information that can’t reasonably be used to identify you.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Right now, the Site uses only cookies that it needs to work, such as one that keeps our staff signed in to the Site’s administration area. We don’t use advertising cookies or third-party tracking tools, and the Site’s fonts are served from our own website.

If we add analytics or advertising tools in the future, we’ll update this policy and, where the law requires, ask for your consent first.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Because we don’t track you across other websites, the Site doesn’t respond differently to “Do Not Track” signals. If we ever sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, we will honor Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out where the law requires.

6. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, including to provide our services, keep business and tax records, resolve disputes and meet legal requirements. Client records are kept for the period set out in the engagement agreement or required by law. When we no longer need information, we delete it or de-identify it.

7. How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. For example, the Site uses encryption (HTTPS), and only people who need information to do their work can access it. No website or storage system is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Please don’t send sensitive information through the Site’s forms or regular email, such as Social Security numbers, bank account or card numbers, passwords or tax documents. If we need that information, we’ll give you a secure way to share it.

8. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy;
  • correct information that’s wrong;
  • delete your information; and
  • stop sending you marketing emails.

Depending on where you live, state privacy laws (for example, in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states) may give you these and other rights, such as opting out of the sale of personal information or targeted advertising, and appealing a decision we make about your request. Some of these laws apply only to larger businesses, but we will respond to reasonable requests from anyone.

To make a request, email us at robert@yourfinancialvalet.com or call (603) 288-6261. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on it. You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you, and we may ask for proof that they are authorized. We won’t treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights. We may keep some information when the law requires it or for legitimate business purposes, such as keeping tax records.

9. Children’s privacy

The Site is meant for adults who run or work for a business. It isn’t directed to children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

11. Visitors outside the United States

We are based in the United States, and the Site is meant for businesses in the United States. Information we collect is processed and stored in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the effective date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes, we’ll post a notice on the Site. Using the Site after an update means you accept the updated policy.
